Sogodi Kamasa Men (DVD ) At the instigation of the great Romani singer Negrita, this album is a first, which marks a milestone in the history of the Travellers. This is the only existing compilation bringing together the best of various Romani musical cultures in one single album. Its completion was unthinkable even a few years ago and the idea seemed crazy to want to create this cultural bridge between the three peoples and three styles. Just think of it, combining sacred Roma songs on the same album along with some of the best Romany dances from the Balkans as well as Gypsy Jazz! This had never been done and for a good reason! The result, however, is amazing and dramatic proof of a strong unique ethnic origin. It is magic right from the start. First, just the fact that the recording was made under the Big Top tent of the Cirque Romanes in Paris was a good omen. And, as we experience the various songs and performers, we discover to our astonishment that there are deep connections between these cultures, which are all just one in the end, that of the Travellers. This is explained by the accents from the Middle East, or perhaps from India, which modulate the voices and guitars, with one absolute certainty that all these interpretations have in common: they come from the depths of the artists´ being, which generations of nomads have left to their descendants, their roots. A big thank you and a deep respect for all those artists who, in the name of universality and unity, have allowed this collection to exist.
